Jamie Carragher has explained why he believes neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi will win the Champions League with their respective clubs.
Ronaldo was instrumental in helping United qualify for the knockout stages of the competition after scoring in all five of the group matches he featured in.
Ronaldo produced a number of match-winning moments to ensure his side didn't suffer an embarrassing early exit from the tournament.
Paris Saint-Germain are one of the favourites to go all of the way this season, and despite Kylian Mbappe handing his side the advantage against Real Madrid on Tuesday, Carragher believes neither Messi nor Ronaldo will be crowned European champions.

"We were talking last night about Real Madrid, and can Real Madrid really play like that away at PSG - I just think this is the way the game is now and you have to perform like that. It has to be high energy," Carragher said on CBS Sports' Golazo.
"That’s why at times this season I’ve looked at the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo for United or Lionel Messi at PSG.
"[They’re] two of the best players I’ve probably ever seen, but to win the big trophies I don’t think you can carry players and say they’re not going to work hard or they’re not going to press off the ball."
Ronaldo will be looking to silence his critics when he returns to Madrid next Wednesday to face Diego Simeone's Atletico.
