Jamie Carragher delivers perfect Liverpool response after being heckled in Manchester

Jamie Carragher was heckled by a Manchester crowd after wearing a T-shirt that commemorated Liverpool's 7-0 home win over Manchester United last season.

Back in March, Jurgen Klopp’s side ran riot as Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah each scored twice in an extraordinary performance before Roberto Firmino added the seventh as United capitulated amid scenes of wild jubilation among the home support.

Carragher decided to up the ante during the Manchester leg of The Overlap on Tour by wearing a T-shirt that commemorated the famous afternoon at Anfield. Included on the T-shirt was the famous selfie he took of him and Neville in the commentary box during the game.

And as he made his way to join United legends Neville and Roy Keane on stage at the Manchester 02 Apollo, Carragher, just like Neville was during the Liverpool leg of the tour, was greeted with jeers and boos, with shouts of "you Scouse b*****d".

After taking his seat, presenter Kelly Cates said: "Jamie, that’s what a proper welcome sounds like." The former Liverpool defender then replied: "Yeah, thanks a lot," before he unzipped his jacket and showed the crowd his T-shirt.

Fellow presenter Josh Denzel, who made his name after appearing on Love Island, then said: "I'm a bit worried. Is Jamie going to be all right leaving this place?" To which Neville replied: "I hope not."

Carragher was then asked to pick one good thing about Manchester, and he replied: "Tell you what, the show Shameless. You were all proper rough in that, weren't you?"

Despite a strong end to the season, Liverpool finished eight points behind United in the Premier League, missing out on a place in this season’s Champions League as a result.
