Jamie Carragher has hit back at comments from Kia Joorabchian after the agent accused him of “having no education” following criticism of his role at Everton.
Carragher – who spent the entirety of his playing career at Liverpool but grew up as a boyhood Toffees fan – questioned the “unhealthy relationship” between Joorabchian and Blues owner Farhad Moshiri. That critique came on Monday night after Everton sacked Frank Lampard.
Carragher had said on Sky Sports when analysing the club’s struggles after their dismissal of Lampard: “He (Moshiri) has got a very unhealthy relationship with Kia Joorabchian, and that partnership has caused a lot of problems at Everton.”
On Wednesday, Joorabchian appeared on talkSPORT to defend his dealings with Everton. It came after former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan also criticised the agent for having an undue influence in the Merseyside club’s decline.
But he also launched a personal attack on Carragher, stating: “When Simon [Jordan] says something I respect it because he's an educated person. Unlike someone like Jamie Carragher who unfortunately lives in a glass house, spits out of car windows and has no education in terms of his background when he makes a comment.”
Carragher responded to the agent via his Twitter account on Wednesday with a four-pronged attack on Joorabchian. After claiming that the debate had become “personal”, the former defender criticised his roles at Everton, Queen’s Park Rangers and Arsenal – before a jibe at how he had inadvertently helped Liverpool’s success.

Carragher tweeted: “Kia, there is no need to get personal, I’m just analysing your role in football clubs! Involved in helping Everton to the bottom of PL. Involved at QPR, which ended with relegation. Your signings at Arsenal took them to 8th, now they’ve gone, they’re top.”
The former defender added in a follow-up tweet: “I should also thank you for your role in taking (Philippe) Coutinho to Barcelona! Won Liverpool the PL & CL, you actually are good for certain football clubs!”
Managerless Everton currently sit 19th in the Premier League table with just three wins from 20 games so far this term. They are off the foot of the table courtesy of having a superior goal difference to Southampton.
Joorabchian – one of football’s most prominent and active football agents – has previously fallen out with Sir Alex Ferguson when taking Carlos Tevez to and from Manchester United.
