West Ham centre back Kurt Zouma pulled out of the starting line-up just 20 minutes before kick-off in today's clash against Leicester at the King Power stadium.
The France international was due to start despite the recent controversy over his attack on his pet cat, however, was withdrawn due to feeling 'unwell' during the warm up.
It's been a major topic of discussion as to whether West Ham's decision to persist with attempting to play Zouma is the right call.
Pundits Jamie Carragher and Graeme Souness shared their thoughts on the situation, with the former arguing that today's antics will "prolong" the story.
"It probably makes folly of the decision to actually play him in the game and all the uproar around it, " Carragher said
"Then he isn’t able to play in the game anyway and Diop comes back in.
"In some ways it probably prolongs the story, everyone in the stadium will be talking about Kurt Zouma again because of this situation. He’s made a massive mistake."
Souness shared similar thoughts and believes that Zouma shouldn't have played again this year.
"I have zero sympathy for him," Souness said
"He’s turned up today and got abuse from his own supporters. West Ham’s roots are in the East end of London, salt of the earth people. People that would not, the vast majority would not be accepting of it.
"I have major problems with it, for me looking at that video, that cat hadn’t done anything wrong. It was picked up and abused for entertainment.
"They’re laughing. It goes out on social media suggests they didn’t think there was anything wrong with it, they thought people would find this amusing.
"They have mismanaged it from day one. For me, I wouldn’t have played him again this year. If I was still a player I wouldn't want to be in the dressing room with him. I would not want him round the place till he showed real remorse."
