Jamie Carragher believes Aston Villa should have been awarded a penalty against Nottingham Forest on Monday night.
The Reds ended a run of five straight Premier League defeats at the City Ground with a 1-1 draw against Steven Gerrard's men. Ashley Young's first goal for Villa in 11 years cancelled out Emmanuel Dennis' first goal for Forest, with both goals coming in the first half.
Steve Cooper's men are now off the bottom of the table with the point, lifting them above Leicester City following their 2-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

Villa players and boss Gerrard were left raging after a penalty decision went against them in the second half. Ryan Yates' challenge on Ezri Konza was deemed to be a fair challenge by referee Antony Taylor.
After the game, speaking on Monday Night Football, Sky Sports pundit Carragher explained how Villa should have had the opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot. The former Liverpool defender used Arsenal's penalty against Liverpool on Sunday as an example.
"I think it is a penalty," he said. "It is certainly more of a penalty than we saw (on Sunday). I think there is a greater contact on the leg of Ezri Konsa, and it always looks worse when you slow it down but that is a bigger challenge than the one that we saw yesterday."
Carragher wasn't the only figure in the footballing world who vented their frustrations at the referee's decision. Former manager Neil Warnock made the same point about Yates' challenge.
“One of the worst #premierleague games I’ve watched,” he wrote on Twitter. “Had to switch off after an hour to wash the pots!
“Anthony Taylor and team missing a clear penalty that was worse than Jesus’s, just less writhing around. Two games decided by refs and VAR again. #AVFC #NFFC #VAR."
