Jamie Cannon's mum says she has been left 'forever heartbroken' after a body found in the search for the missing teen was identified as her son.
The 19-year-old was first reported missing from the Saltcoats area of Scotland in May 2021.
His family and friends have campaigned tirelessly to try and find Jamie after he vanished.
But a body was tragically discovered in the Ardeer area, near Stevenston on Saturday.
Officers confirmed on Friday that the body found had been identified as Jamie. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
His heartbroken mum has now taken to social media confirming the devastating news.
Lynn Cannon wrote: "It is with great sadness and heavy heartache that we can now confirm the passing of Jamie Cannon.
"I would like to ask at this time if everyone could give our family and friends time to come to terms in the loss of my beautiful & handsome boy Jamie.
"Forever heartbroken."
She added: "Thank you to everyone for your lovely messages, cards and support."
