Former Rangers star Andy Halliday insists James Tavernier proved again he's got the guts to be Ibrox captain in the win at Dundee.
With his team trailing 1-0, the right-back skied a penalty shortly before half-time that left many wondering if the champions were on course to drop precious title race points.
But current Hearts regular Halliday noted he refused to hide despite his big miss.
Rangers came back with Aaron Ramsey and Connor Goldson turning the game around and potentially saving their challenge for the Premiership crown with Celtic currently three points clear.
Tavernier played a crucial role and his former team-mate Halliday told Open Goal : “I sound like his dad on this show because I stick up for him all the time.
“But I’ve always hated the ‘James Tavernier isn’t a captain’ type at Rangers.
“Look at yesterday, misses a penalty and doesn’t let it affect him.
“The full second half, he’s the one driving the team forward and constantly getting on it.
“So he showed his marbles didn’t he?”
