Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has tipped James Milner to take over his job "tomorrow" after stepping up ahead of May's Champions League final.
Milner has spent seven years at Anfield, winning the Premier League, European Cup, FA Cup and Carabao Cup. He is one of the senior members of Jurgen Klopp's squad and signed a new one-year deal to extend his stay on Merseyside in June.
He has mainly been used as a substitute in recent seasons, featuring for the final half-hour of the draw with Fulham last week. But it is his leadership abilities that makes him such a key player for Klopp, with the Englishman vastly experienced.
