James Milner has admitted he would rather give up golf for life than sign for Manchester United.
The Liverpool midfielder, who is known to enjoy spending time on the fairway whenever not in action for Jurgen Klopp's side, has long shared a dislike for the Red Devils having grown up as a Leeds United supporter and played for United's two biggest rivals.
Part of the Manchester City side who earned a remarkable 6-1 victory at Old Trafford in October 2011 and later beat Sir Alex Ferguson's side to the Premier League title on the final day of the season, Milner's rivalry with United was renewed when he signed for the Reds in July 2015.

His feelings towards the 20-time top-flight champions became clear during Liverpool's Premier League trophy lift at the end of the 2019/20 season when a Gini Wijnaldum Instagram live picked up the following words from the 36-year-old: “It’s the first time I ever wanted a red ribbon. “It’s always been United before. F****** w******.”
It should therefore come as no surprise Milner declared he would quit his much-loved hobby of golf for good, rather than join United. "That's a horrendous question," he told Sky Sports when asked to choose between the two options. He added: "I absolutely love golf, but it would have to be never play golf again."
Milner was later asked if he would prefer to listen to Jamie Carragher or Gary Neville's punditry, to which he responded: "Is mute an option or not? I would have to stick with the kit I'm wearing and go with Carra."
