James Martin holds back tears on ITV Saturday Morning

TV chef James Martin appeared to struggled to hold back his tears as he marked a landmark TV milestone on Saturday.

ITV James Martin Saturday Morning returned to the air once again on Saturday morning and revealed he was celebrating his 200th episode on May 28.

He paid tribute to Michel Roux Senior who James has described as "like a father figure" to him and was a mentor for him when he was a young chef.

During the emotional show, Brian Turner paid tribute to his friend, James. He said: "Son, we're very proud of ya. Keep it going."

Lisa Goodwin-Allen then said: "It's a real testament to you and the team behind the scenes. It's a great Saturday show and I love being part of it. Thank you."

ITV This Morning regular James joked: "Only Brian Turner could have an oil painting of himself behind his head in his house."

The TV chef took to Twitter to apologise to his followers for his emotions: "Sorry I got a bit emotional on the @sat_jamesmartin show. Michel Roux Snr was like a father figure to me and that day in France was one of the greatest in my life."

But fans were quick to reassure James there was nothing to be sorry for with many congratulating him for his 200th episode. @debskillingback commented: "Oh I watched and knew you would be crying when they cut back to you. And that’s not from cutting onions. Roux Snr such a legend."

@Elizabe69175433 added: "Youv [sic] got nothing to apologise for James nothing wrong with a man showing some emotion, And he was a lovely lovely man ,wish he was still with us so much fun with you and on saturday morning kitchen, explaining every thinge one of the best ,wish i could of met him."

@BarnabyAppricot said: "No need to be sorry chef. Always a pleasure to watch this clip again and again with you. Brilliant show today chef. Amazing chefs, great guests. A well deserved celebration of 200 shows. "
