Leicester midfielder James Maddison appeared to deactivate his Twitter account after making a costly mistake in the Foxes' 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth.
Leicester and the Cherries locked horns in a relegation six-pointer at The King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon with both running out of games to preserve their top-flight status. But it was Bournemouth, rather than the hosts, who took a significant step towards survival courtesy of a 40th minute goal from Phillip Billing.
While it was Billing who struck to nudge Leicester closer to the drop, Maddison was at fault after teeing up the Bournemouth midfielder with an ill-judged backpass.
And the Foxes playmaker, who has been heavily linked with a summer exit, has come under fire on social media after people picked up on a tweet he made at the start of March, where he insisted that Leicester would be "absolutely fine" if they carried on playing how they had against Southampton - despite the fact they lost on the day.
It now would appear as though Maddison has deleted his social media account following Saturday's defeat, which he admitted left him feeling "very low".
Speaking to Match of the Day after Saturday's defeat, which leaves Leicester in 19th place and x points adrift of safety, Maddison said: "It was a really tough one to take. I am very low at the moment. We knew it was a big game and didn’t try and dress it up as anything else.
"We’ve worked really hard. I made a sloppy mistake and it cost us. I am very low. I’m always hungry to do well for the team. I tried to erase it and not do too much to make up for it. It wasn’t to be today. It is a sore one.

"I am very low and sad in defeat because my mistake sort of cost the team. We have to dust ourselves down and go again. I’ll be sad tonight and probably tomorrow but we’ll get going again on Monday.
"It is so important we stay positive. We’ll try and rally the troops. I apologise to the fans for today, I thought they were brilliant. It is not brilliant for us in terms of results and performances aren’t quite there at the moment but it is important the fans stick with us.
"There is still a long way to go. It is tight down there. I would have preferred to win today. It wasn’t a make or break. There is still plenty of points to play for."
Leicester have eight points to secure survival and but have agreed a deal which will see former Leeds boss Jesse Marsch installed as the club's new head coach after parting company with Brendan Rodgers last weekend.
