James Jordan says people said he looked pregnant before shedding 3st and says his weight gain was down to a tough few years with his family.
The dancer and wife Ola Jordan have wowed fans with their new look as they said goodbye to their "mum and dad" physiques.
They confessed they have struggled to keep in shape off following the birth of daughter Ella, now two.
The couple admitted they were encouraged to lose weight after having a "wake-up call" when they shared an "unflattering" picture of themselves in swimsuits this summer.
Since then, they've been on a mission to put things right.
James has taken to Instagram and said that people used to tease him about his tummy.
"Going, going, gone! Now no one can say I’m pregnant! Must say I’m very happy to lose the overhang and - TMI alert - the hairs that used to get caught in my belt (painful)," he posted.
"But although I joke about it, I do think I was quite down before I started on my fitness journey. I’d been through a few rough years with my dad as you know and food was definitively a comfort.
"So I am a little bit proud that together with Ola we’ve managed to get into a much happier and healthier mindset - and lose over 6 1/2 Stone between us. So bye bye belly - and thank you Dance Shred."
Ola, 40, previously admitted she was 'horrified' and 'disappointed' at her appearance.
James came under fire earlier this month for saying he used to need 'a crane' to lift his wife before she started her weight loss journey.
Speaking on Loose Women, Ola told the panel: “Obviously, I had an amazing body when I was on Strictly. Everyone used to look up to me.
“So, coming to the realisation that it’s not the same and it’s not going to be the same anymore, it’s really hard.”
James, who appeared alongside his wife, added: “We’re not training ten hours a day like we used to
“It’s not rocket science, is it? It’s what you eat and if you’re not exercising you’re going to put on weight.
“I always said to Ola, I used to find it very easy because I was training so much all the time, I could eat whatever I wanted.
“And I always said, ‘I don’t understand why people put on weight’ and then I have put on three stone since I stopped Strictly, which is quite a lot.”
