James Jeggo wins Hibs red card appeal as club delighted 'common sense prevailed' but slam FIVE more ref decisions

Hibs have won their appeal against Jimmy Jeggo's red card against St Johnstone.

The midfielder was shown red early in the second half for a challenge on St Johnstone's Connor McLennan and Hibs quickly announced in the aftermath of the game they would appeal it. And they have now revealed the SFA appeals panel have overturned it with Jeggo now available for their post-split Premiership fixtures.

They said: "We are pleased to confirm that our appeal against Jimmy Jeggo’s sending off at St Johnstone has been successful. The midfielder was dismissed early in the second half for a low challenge on Connor McLennan in our 1-1 draw at McDiarmid Park. After reviewing the club’s evidence and extensive footage, the Appeal Panel convened by the SFA has overturned Jeggo’s red card and replaced it with a yellow. That means that the Australian international will be available for our post-split fixtures."

Following the appeal outcome, Hibs chief executive Ben Kensell commented: “We are pleased that common sense has prevailed, and the appeal panel has overturned Jimmy Jeggo’s red card.

“This is a positive outcome, however, throughout the current campaign, we have raised serious concerns with the standard of officiating across the Scottish game on at least five occasions where decisions have wrongly gone against us. We will work with other clubs and the SFA to bring needed improvement to the current systems.”
