James Harden’s contentious situation with the 76ers took another turn Wednesday when the 10-time NBA All-Star made significant changes to his social media accounts.
Harden, who has asked to be traded by Philadelphia, has removed all visible affiliations with the club on his Twitter and Instagram profiles.
Previously, his Twitter bio listed “NBA Player for the Philadelphia 76ers” with a location of ‘Philadelphia, PA.’ His updated bio lists a link to @jhardenwines with all references to the city of Brotherly Love deleted. He similarly revised his Instagram account.
Harden recently referred to his relationship with the 76ers as “fractured,” and he reportedly wants to be traded to the Clippers despite opting into his $35.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season instead of becoming a free agent.

Philadelphia general manager Daryl Morey has stated that he only will trade the disgruntled Harden if the 76ers receive a player in return who will keep them in title contention.
The Philly Voice reported Morey was quite clear about that while appearing on 97.5 The Fanatic: “If we don’t get either a very good player or something we can turn into a very good player, then we’re just not going to do it,” said Morey. “If James were to turn his mind around, we would all be thrilled. You’ve heard Joel [Embiid’s] comments about that. But at this moment, he prefers to be traded, and we are attempting to honor that.”
