Big, big changes are on the horizon.
James Corden’s hosting gig on CBS’ “The Late Late Show” could be replaced next year — when the Brit bids the late night show farewell — with a multi-host panel, a trio of sources familiar with the situation told Variety Monday.
Though only in early discussions, if the network decides to go ahead with such a shift, the new format might straddle multiple late night genres like gossip, news and game show entertainment.
Viewers might also find themselves watching a show without staples of late night such as a signature live band, according to Variety.
There are multiple people and ideas in contention for the future of the 12:30 a.m. slot, the outlet reports.
Corden, 43, in late April announced that in spring 2023 he would be leaving the show that brought the world the viral sensation of “Carpool Karaoke” — as well as segments “Drop the Mic” and “Crosswalk Musical.”
