James Bond films to be in production until at least 2037

A deal has been signed for the James Bond film franchise to continue in production until at least 2037, reports have emerged.

The international spy British icon, known most recently as Daniel Craig, dates all the way back to 60 years ago with the first film released in 1962.

Now, the franchise is said to have been bought by Warner Bros. who plan to keep it in production for at least another 15 years, taking the franchise up to 75 years in the making.

This follows recent speculation over who will play the next James Bond following Craig’s final performance in No Time to Die.

Craig, 50, has played the lead role in the espionage action movies for the past 15 years for a total of five films.

It is yet to be disclosed when the next Agent 007 film will be released and who will fill in the shoes of the cultural icon.

A source told The Mirror that “Bond is sure to still be in rude health at 75. There will be no hanging up the tux and martini”.

They added that this is “great news for fans” and will allow the franchise to continue past its 27th film.

Rumours: Idris Elba talks about James Bond (Dave Benett)

Idris Elba, 49, was previously in long-drawn talks to star as the next James Bond until he recently pulled out of the running.

Barbara Broccoli, the films’ head, has said: “Well, we know Idris, we’re friends with him, and he’s a magnificent actor.

“And, you know, it’s been part of the conversation, but it’s always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat.”

Most recently, Spider-Man’s Tom Holland was rumoured to be a contender to play the next 007 agent alongside several others including Rege-Jean Page and James Norton.
