England legend James Anderson left Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan in a state of disbelief after bowling him with a brilliant delivery in the second Test in Multan.
Rizwan, who had been promoted up the order to open alongside Abdullah Shafique, started well as Pakistan looked to chase down 355 to win. However, after posting a 66-run partnership with Shafique, England finally threw the ball to Anderson for the first time in the innings.
And the 40-year-old produced yet another piece of magic, bowling Rizwan for 30 with a delivery that nipped past his outside edge and clattered into off stump. As Anderson wheeled away in celebration, Rizwan looked utterly baffled and just stood there in complete shock for a while before eventually walking off the field.
"What a jaffa, what an absolute jaffa," former England captain Nasser Hussain said on commentary. "When you need a wicket you go to Anderson. Rizwan looks on in disbelief."
"That is absolute magic from the legend," added ex-Pakistan all-rounder Urooj Mumtaz. "It's just come in with the angle and that is just brilliant."
Anderson had been introduced into England's attack as the fifth choice bowler, with captain Ben Stokes opting to give spinner Jack Leach the new ball alongside Ollie Robinson instead.
This is the first time Anderson has been a fifth choice bowler for England since 2004, when he took 4-52 against the West Indies at the Oval in a ten wicket win, with Brian Lara and Chris Gayle among his victims that day.
Anderson's brilliance to remove Rizwan was then followed up by two equally outstanding wickets for fellow seamers Robinson and Mark Wood, who dismissed Babar Azam and Shafique respectively.
Robinson got one to jag back in as Babar shouldered arms and promptly bowled the Pakistan skipper, while Wood demolished Shafique's off stump with a delivery that kept low and snaked through his defence.
