Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has a deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs, the team and his agent announced on Oct. 19. The diagnosis, known medically as bilateral pulmonary emboli, came days after an ultrasound found what was described as a superficial clot following a calf injury, ABC News reported.
The team said Hurts is clinically stable, has no significant functional limitations, and will be treated with blood thinners. He cannot take part in contact activities, including football, while on that treatment. "Jalen's prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery," the statement said, according to TIME. The team has given no timeline for his return.
