Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson: What Former Boxers Are Saying

We’re hours away from one of the most anticipated boxing events of the year, Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. Several boxers spoke with some of the Safest Casino Sites and shared their opinions about the fight.

Tony Bellew Wants To See Jake Paul Get Knocked Out

Tony Bellew is a former professional boxer who once held the WBC cruiserweight title from 2016 to 2017. Bellew also starred as Ricky Conlan in the Creed series. Bellew is concerned about the ages of the two fighters, saying Paul might as well go to the “retirement home” if he wins.

“Mike Tyson’s a granddad. He’s 58 years old. He’s closing in on 60 and he’s fighting a man who isn’t even half his age,” Bellew said. “The Disney Boy is just attacking granddads now. It’s truly frightening. I mean, we might as well go to the retirement home and start getting out a few of them. If Mike turns up and lands a right hand on him, he’s going to sleep. So who should he come back against? A 70 year old? If he wins, is he going to keep going like that with the age? Is he going to come down? Is he going to face a real boxer?”

What does Bellew want to see happen? The Creed actor is rooting for the “Baddest Man on the Planet” to deliver a knockout.

“If somebody could show me a crystal ball and said Mike Tyson’s going to knock Jake Paul clean out, I’m watching it 100%,” Bellew added. “But you can’t give me that kind of guarantee and there will be nothing more sad to see Mike Tyson get pummeled.”

George Groves Questions Mike Tyson’s Training

Geroge Groves is a former British boxer who held the WBA (Super) super-middleweight title from 2017 to 2018. During the run-up to the fight, Tyson claimed he spent six hours a day in the gym. Groves questions Tyson’s strategy, thinking it might backfire.

“Who knows what sort of training Tyson’s doing. Six hours a day, whatever, is that beneficial to him or not? Is that the truth or not? It takes a bit longer to recover the older you get,” Groves said. “If he’s in the gym grafting for six hours a day, it’s not really giving him a lot of time to recover. That might just be a little nugget for us to sort of digest.”

Carl Froch Believes A Knockout Won’t Happen

Carl Froch is a former British professional boxer who once held multiple super-middleweight world championships. Although Paul vs. Tyson is a professional fight, Froch questions the fight’s legitimacy, believing a clause in their contract states the two fighters cannot knock each other out.

“Allegedly, there’s a clause in there that says [Tyson] can’t go for it (a knockout), so we’ll see won’t we,” Froch explained. “I don’t think it should be a professional boxing match. You could say it’s a pro boxing match because Jake Paul could consider himself a low-level fighter, like an area-level fighter, but Mike Tyson retired in his early 40s. He fought way too long and was well past his best. So at 58 years old, I’ll just be happy if he gets out of the ring without getting chinned.”

Like Bellew, Froch also wants to see the former YouTube star get knocked out by a Tyson punch.

“Wouldn’t it be f**king great though, if Mike Tyson got in there and landed a shot. That’s what people surely want. They want to see Jake Paul get ironed out by an old Mike Tyson,” Froch added. “I don’t want to contradict myself, because I’ve said before I disagree with it, which I still do. But actually, on reflection, thinking about it, it’s just a bit of entertainment, isn’t it?”

The main fight card is scheduled for Friday, November 15, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. It will stream on Netflix.
