Jake Paul mocked Kamaru Usman after he shockingly lost his UFC title in the dying moments of his title fight against Leon Edwards.
Usman, 35, was looking to make the sixth defence of his welterweight title in a rematch against Edwards, seven years after the pair first met in the early stages of their UFC careers. The fight was going to plan for 'The Nigerian Nightmare' as he took a healthy lead into the final round of the fight. Usman seemed to be cruising his way to a decision win, but Edwards landed a perfect head kick that rendered the champion unconscious as he suffered his first-ever UFC defeat.
Paul, who has traded words with Usman in the past, has since mocked the fighter's loss by tweeting a photoshopped picture of him choking out the UFC star. The original picture of Usman being submitted came in his only other MMA defeat to date. Paul also posted a video to his Instagram story that showed Usman unconscious with a dummy in his mouth along with the caption: "I love nap time".

The YouTube star didn't stop there, as he laughed at Usman for calling out undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. Usman wanted to step in the ring and test himself against boxing star Alvarez after clearing out most of the top contenders in his weight class. Alvarez laughed off Usman's attempts to fight him and insisted the UFC star was just in search of a quick payday. Talks of a fight between Usman and Alvarez fizzled out after the Mexican was outpointed by Dmitry Bivol in his last fight.
Paul was suggested as a potential opponent for Usman's boxing expedition, but he played down the fight whilst discrediting the YouTuber's ability to sell pay-per-views. Usman recently touched on a potential fight with Paul by stating: “Listen, me and (Paul) get in a scrap right now, he could touch me,” Usman told I Am Athlete podcast.
““I’m not naive or ignorant enough to think – let them put it on the news. I’m a realist. I know I’m gonna dog walk him, but at the same time, everyone has a puncher’s chance. Me fighting Jake Paul, I’m helping him. I beat Jake Paul, nobody cares. You’re supposed to beat him. I still get a bank account now. I still get that. I beat Canelo, biggest athlete in the world, not even close, 100million in the bank. If I’m gonna gamble, I’m gonna gamble well.”
