YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has aimed a dig at Floyd Mayweather after showing up at the Miami Grand Prix.
Paul was among a host of celebrities and sports stars in town to watch Red Bull star Max Verstappen win the race and extend his lead over teammate Sergio Perez to 14 points. And the Problem Child spoke to Sky Sports ahead of the race as he prepares to fight former UFC star Nate Diaz.
During the interview, Paul urged boxing's top stars to take the biggest fights possible and put their undefeated records on the line, claiming that Mayweather retiring with a 50-0 record has made boxers unwilling to take risks.
"It's annoying, man. In boxing, fighters are not willing to risk their undefeated record and put it all on the line. Their legacy of being 'undefeated' is more important to them.
"Floyd Mayweather set that example for the sport so, if you lose, you're kind of swept under the rug in boxing. But more champions should go and fight other big names and that's why I respect Ryan Garcia for even taking the Tank [Gervonta Davis] fight.
"Even though he lost it doesn't matter, he did what a lot of other fighters in boxing aren't doing, which is making big fights happen. And it's great for the sport." Paul recently lost his own undefeated record after suffering a split decision loss to Tommy Fury back in February.
And while he is due to fight Diaz next in August, Paul is keen on a rematch with the former Love Island star. "It's gonna happen, it's gonna happen for sure," he vowed. "I think it was a great fight, it was entertaining and it was the biggest pay per view buy of the last two years, so I think we have to run it back. Tommy is down and I'm excited for that."
Paul also said he is "filled with vengeance" ahead of the Diaz fight due to his loss against Fury, adding "I'm ready man, I'm excited. I'm filled with vengeance and just excited to come back and perform."
Fury has also said he wants a rematch against Paul, but admitted he is concerned the American is not as keen as he is. Speaking on Soccer AM back in March, Fury said: "I'm down for the rematch. I'll fight him tomorrow, it's not an issue. But does he want it now?
"I'm not so sure. He was the one barking up the hill, but I'm sitting on the top of that hill now. So it's my call. There's a lot of meetings going on, but believe you me, the next fight I take, it will be bigger than Jake Paul."
