Jake Paul backed to fight UFC legend Nick Diaz on "ultimate" boxing card

Jake Paul has been backed to fight UFC legend Nick Diaz on a "ultimate boxing card" created by Bellator champion AJ McKee.

McKee, who is the current Bellator featherweight champion, has a feud with Nick's brother and fellow UFC fan favourite Nate Diaz.

Nate caused a friend and training partner of McKee's spill his beer after pretending to punch him at Jake Paul's rematch with Tyron Woodley last December.

McKee had earlier been involved in an altercation with Nate after their teammates, Chris Avila and Anthony Taylor, weighed in for their fights on the undercard with Nate allegedly throwing a water bottle at McKee's crowd.

Ever since then McKee has wanted to get his own back against Nate and he mocked up a "ultimate boxing card" to do so.

"My ultimate card, in boxing, I think it would be like, Nick Diaz vs. Logan or Jake [Paul] and me vs. Nate, That would be something crazy," he told Sporting News.

"If Nate’s got an issue, we can get that on Showtime. Meet me outside. We can put up a championship belt for it."

McKee is a longtime friend of Paul's last opponent in ex-UFC champion Woodley and admitted it was hard to watch him be knocked out against Paul.

And the Bellator star has backed Paul in his hopes of transitioning from boxing to MMA.

"Definitely. It’s a mindset. That warrior, that beast. That first fight with Woodley showed a lot," he continued.

It showed a lot of heart for him to be able to, not just take the damage but also dish it out. Woodley, he’s a beast. Whether people give him respect or not.

Ahead of his move into MMA, Paul has escalated his feud with UFC boss Dana White after slamming him over the treatment of his fighters.

Paul has campaigned for UFC fighters to be paid a minimum of $50,000 a fight and even released a diss track targeted at White.

And McKee has labelled Paul's recent attacks on the UFC boss as "comical".

"I think it’s comical. No one really challenges Dana, so I think it’s kind of funny that he’s challenging Dana. I don’t think Dana likes it. It’s business. Why would he?

"His business has run great the way it is for many years. He’s done great at building superstars and so forth. It’s cool, but Jake’s doing the right things.

"’Ive kind of been in cahoots with him. I’m looking forward to hopping over to on Showtime and teaming up with him and doing some boxing as well. We’ll see where that path lies."
