Jake Paul advises Conor McGregor to face Jorge Masvidal instead of Nate Diaz in next fight

Jake Paul has told Conor McGregor he should consider fighting Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal was beaten by Colby Covington in five rounds last night as the pair's protracted feud was settled at UFC 272.

McGregor is still recovering from the leg break sustained in last summer's loss to Dustin Poirier.

The Irishman looks likely to return next summer or autumn, but it appears he will slot back in at lightweight rather than in Masvidal's welterweight division.

But Paul spoke out on social media where he outlined that McGregor and Masvidal would be well matched, citing the two fighters' quick hands and "weak" chins.

He said: "We already know Conor can’t finish Diaz.

"[The] right fight to make is [sic] Masvidoll vs Macgregor.

"[It's a] 50/50 fight [which] ends in a KO. Both can throw and both have weak chins."

As well as both fighters featuring in different weight divisions, there appears to be another obstacle: McGregor and his team are not interested in any potential bout with Masvidal.

That's according to Masvidal's manager Malki Kawa, who explained that attempts had been made to make the fight previously.

He said: “Every time he’s ever tweeted, or anybody’s ever tweeted that name at us or Jorge, I do the following: I call [UFC executive] Hunter [Campbell], I say, ‘Hey Hunter, what’s good? You saw Conor?’”

"[Hunter says], ‘Yeah, he doesn’t want that fight.’ OK, boom. Every single time. It never fails.

"I don’t know if that’s real, or not real, but I know that they said they’ve tried to make that fight a couple times – Conor will not take it.

"You’ve heard [UFC President] Dana [White], Jorge’s too big for him, and that’s the end of that story. So listen, if they wanted to make that fight, our end accepts no matter what. We’re all in."

Were the unlikely meeting to take place, there would be plenty of motivation behind Masvidal as McGregor has publicly criticised the American before.

Tweeting after Masvidal pulled out of a fight with Leon Edwards last year, McGregor said:

"It's also Jorge Masvidal's birthday but he [sic] a b**** for bottling the fight against Leon.

"F*** your 'injury' You sign to fight, you fight. Strip that [BMF] belt from him that he never even won.

"Hoe in a housecoat. The f**k was that about as well? Last seasons Versace house coat hahaha wtf! [sic]"
