JAIPUR: City police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested six members of an alleged 'serial killing' gang, including its 28-year-old kingpin, who had murdered and robbed four drivers in the Jaipur and Gurugram region.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Ajay Pal Lamba said that the gang's kingpin and prime accused, Vishal Jogi had murdered an app-based bike rider in Jaipur's Sanganer area in October last year and fled with the victim's bike.
"It was a blind case and we did not have any clue of the suspects. We constituted a special team that followed the accused and finally nabbed them," he said.
DCP (Jaipur South) Mridul Kachawa said that the accused were identified as Vishal Jogi (28), a native of Bawal in Haryana, his girlfriend Rekha (35), Jitu Jogi (19), a native of Bharatpur, Ravi Banjara (19) a resident of Muhana in Jaipur, Vinod alias Lala (21) and Buddhi Prakash (26), a resident of Muhana,
"As of now, we have found Vishal and his gang's involvement in four cases. They had killed two car drivers in Gurugram last year. Then they killed one cabbie in Jaipur last year in October. They also robbed and killed a Swift car driver at Badshahpur in Gurugram on Saturday," he said.
Kachawa said that the arrest of Vishal and his gang will likely help the police in unravelling other unsolved killings in Jaipur-NCR regions.
SHO (Muhana) Lakhan Singh Khatana, said that the police found the prime accused Vishal murdered all the victims while his gang members aided him in heinous offences.
Khatana said that the police had received information about a robbed car and its driver was murdered in Gurugram on February 19. The vehicle's GPS system was working and its location was mapped around the Muhana area in the city where Vishal's cousins Jitu and Vinod live. The police team tracked down the accused and managed to arrest the notorious criminals.
