Jaipur: Cops yet to trace abducted four-month-old boy, accused

JAIPUR: Nearly 23 hours after a four-month-old boy was abducted from the Bangar block of the SMS Hospital by an unidentified man, the city police said they have no CCTV video of the accused leaving the hospital complex.

"We have the CCTVs of the man inside the hospital. However,we have sifted through multiple CCTVs of the accused before the crime. But our teams have yet to find a video of him leaving the hospital building. It is important for us to determine his exit route from the hospital with the infant," said an official.

Police late on Wednesday night took away one suspect for questioning. Sources said that they were examining if the suspect was connected with the accused or not.

Police said that they have distributed the photos of the infant, Divyansh so that he could be tracked.

Divyansh's grandfather, Kalu Ram told TOI that the incident took place on Wednesday evening when his wife had gone to deliver food to their daughter-in-law inside the hospital where their elder grandson, who is four-years-old, is undergoing treatment for a spinal problem.

"Divyansh was on my wife's lap. She was going to give food to our daughter-in-law he (accused) offered to take care of the baby. My wife left for the hospital after handing over the baby to him. I was eating food when the accused quietly left with Divyansh," he said.

The family said that they had come from Dausa on July 28 for the treatment of Divyansh's elder brother. The accused mingled with them and took them to a private hospital outside Bangar.

After meeting a specialist at the private hospital, the family settled down to eat food at 4.30 pm. It was around the same time that the accused fled.

"The family looked around the hospital complex till 6.30 pm. They found no trace of him and then alerted the SMS Hospital police station," said an official.

The police officials said that they were exploring all angles in the abduction, including the possibility of the accused being part of some child lifting gang.

Divyansh's father, Ankur Yogi, said that the family had no prior acquaintance with the accused.

"The accused won over the family's trust and abducted the infant when all of them were engrossed in some other works," said an official.
