Jaguars send two scouts to Ohio State vs. Notre Dame

Dozens of NFL scouts and decision-makers descended on Columbus, Ohio on Saturday for a marquee matchup between the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Unsurprisingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars were among the many NFL teams represented at the game.

According to Cleveland.com columnist Doug Lesmerises, two seats in the press box at Ohio Stadium were reserved Saturday for Jaguars scouts. Another 41 were saved for other NFL representatives, including three each for the New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, and Cleveland Browns.

Both Ohio State and Notre Dame are loaded with NFL-caliber talent, but it’s the Buckeyes, in particular, that have prospects aplenty.

Last month, three Ohio State players landed in the first 16 picks in a 2023 mock draft from TouchdownWire’s Doug Farrar, including quarterback C.J. Stroud who was projected as the first overall pick.

Barring an absolute disaster in 2022, the Jaguars won’t be in the market for a quarterback, but Ohio State receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer, and Ohio State offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. are among the prospects who could immediately improve the Jaguars offense.
