The final game of the preseason is already upon us, and the Jacksonville Jaguars need a win in the worst way. With starters likely to only see a drive or two of meaningful action, it’ll take all hands on deck to finish the job against the Atlanta to finish the preseason with at least one win under their belt.
Jacksonville’s fans can’t stand much more losing. After two first overall picks in as many seasons, the winds of change are in the air, and 2022 top-selection Travon Walker has some ideas about where his defensive unit is headed. Asked about fellow rookie Devin Lloyd, Waker showered high praise on the linebacker, saying that he is acclimating well to the pace of the pro game after an extended absence in the preseason.
“Just to see Devin out there yesterday in full pads for the first time, he was flying around, looking good, filling gaps, doing what he’s supposed to do,” Walker said of his fellow rookie. “It wasn’t a surprise because I’ve watched film on him, seen him do it on film, but to actually have him out there on the field with me flying around like he was, I’m excited to see how he’s going to be.”
His admiration for Lloyd was apparent, as Walker continued by praising the linebacker’s drive and effort.
“He’s one of those guys,” Walker explained. “He’s very energetic, he has a very high motor, like once Devin gets going, it’s going to be hard to slow him down. He’s one of those type guys that just stay on it. He pushes himself.”
With just one game to get into regular season form, Lloyd will be up for a tough battle against Atlanta but should be able to make something of this first opportunity to show he was worthy of his high draft slot. To hear Walker tell it, he is already well on his way to making a career for himself, based on practices alone.
