Jaguars place return specialist Jamal Agnew on injured reserve

Jamal Agnew will miss at least four games after the Jacksonville Jaguars placed the veteran wide receiver and return specialist on injured reserve Saturday.

“Jamal fell on his shoulder in the game [vs. the San Francisco 49ers], so he’s got a little shoulder issue going on,” Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said earlier this week. “There’s a potential that as the week progresses, we’ll see where he’s at. But it doesn’t look promising right now on a Monday. We’ll see where he is during the course of the week.”

With Agnew set to miss time, the Jaguars moved rookie Parker Washington from the injured reserve to the active roster Saturday, clearing the way for the sixth-round pick to temporarily take over return duties.

Agnew, 28, earned Pro Bowl honors as a returner last season and All-Pro honors earlier in his career with the Detroit Lions. He is averaging 10.6 yards per punt return and 27.7 yards per kickoff return so far this season. Agnew has also contributed nine receptions on offense for 90 yards.

The Jaguars can add Agnew back to the active roster any time after their Week 14 game against the Cleveland Browns.
