After the disaster that was the 2021 season for Jacksonville, there was a palpable feeling of deflation around the fan base. The previous coach, Urban Meyer, is out, and in comes a Super Bowl winner in Doug Pederson.
With that move, the current temperature around the fan base could best be described as a cautious hope. This is a group of fans that has been burned too many times to count, but Pederson is easily the most accomplished coach the franchise has ever hired.
And when it comes to former Jaguars star Fred Taylor, there’s nothing cautious about the hope. He offered a lot of praise for the new coach, according to a report from TMZ Sports.
“Sky is the limit,” Taylor said. “We’re hoping that. Everybody in Duval hoping it.”
Luckily, the bar is currently pretty low in Jacksonville after Meyer’s disastrous tenure, which Taylor referred to as a “comedy.”
“It was a big circus, man,” he said. “Things was all over the place.”
There are no guarantees in NFL coaching, but the Pederson pick seems to be popular among fans, former players, and the media. Jags fans will hope Taylor is right, and this team has finally found the correct coach to lead the franchise.
