Jacksonville Jaguars right guard Brandon Scherff suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Scherff, 31, was injured on the tail-end of a third down play early in the second half when Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II fell on to the back of his ankle. Jaguars teammates immediately waved for training staff to come on to the field and Scherff was eventually able to walk off the field with assistance.

Veteran offensive lineman Tyler Shatley replaced Scherff in the game, but the Jaguars captain was out of the locker room and warming up on the sideline before the end of the third quarter. However, early in the fourth quarter, Scherff was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Earlier this week, Scherff was named a Jaguars team captain for the second time in as many seasons with the team. Prior to joining Jacksonville as a free agent in 2022, Scherff was a five-time Pro Bowler with the Washington Commanders.
The Jaguars signed Scherff to a three-year, $49.5 million deal last year that was restructured during the 2023 offseason.
