Jadon Sancho is set to make a return to the Manchester United squad after discussions with manager Erik ten Hag, as reported by a source to ESPN. Sancho has been absent from the team since August following a public criticism of Ten Hag on social media. During his absence, he spent the latter part of the previous season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he reached the Champions League final.
After a recent meeting with Ten Hag, Sancho has resumed training with the first team. Although he will not be part of the squad for the upcoming pre-season friendly against Rosenborg in Norway on Monday, he will be considered for future selection. United is scheduled to face Rangers at Murrayfield on July 20 before embarking on a three-match tour in the U.S. starting on July 24.
The rift between Sancho and Ten Hag originated when the player suggested that the manager had been dishonest about the reasons for his exclusion from a match against Arsenal in September. Ten Hag had made it clear that Sancho would only be welcomed back upon issuing an apology, a condition that remains undisclosed by the club following their recent meeting.
Despite United entertaining offers for Sancho this transfer window, with Juventus expressing interest, the club's valuation of £40 million ($51.9 million) has posed challenges in negotiations. A statement released on the club's website confirmed Sancho's return for testing after his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, with the 24-year-old forward rejoining training with the team.
