The plug is being pulled on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk after Facebook’s parent company, Meta, decided to shut down their FaceBook Watch originals.
Pinkett Smith’s popular show first launched in 2018, streaming 129 episodes over 5 seasons. The show also pulled in around 11 million followers on social media.
Hosted by Pinkett Smith, her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and her daughter Willow, the three often discussed a mixture of personal, professional and sometimes sensitive topics.
A number of celebrity guests also appeared over the years, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kelly Osbourne and Hayden Panettiere. Pinkett Smith’s husband Will Smith also made several appearances.
A Meta representative confirmed the cancellation to Variety. The Standard has contacted Meta for comment.
It comes amid the Mark Zuckerberg-founded company’s cost-cutting initiative and coincides with Meta’s layoff of 10,000 roles company-wide. This follows the 11,000 staffers who were made redundant at the end of 2022.
Other shows affected by the demise of Facebook Watch originals include Steve Harvey’s Steve on Watch – a revival of his former NBC daytime show that was cancelled in 2015 – and various docuseries hosted by JoJo Siwa, Yara Shahidi and Becky G.
