Jacqueline Jossa teases EastEnders return after impressing fans with Dot's funeral scenes

Jacqueline Jossa teased a possible return to EastEnders after she made a brief appearance for Dot Cotton's funeral.

She reprised her role as Lauren Branning on the BBC soap for the first time since 2018 when she departed after tragic scenes.

However, it was more heartbreak that led to her return for the final farewell of her grandmother Dot.

Fans recently took part in a Q&A on her Instagram page and asked her if she would consider returning to the long-running soap 'full time'.

"Do you think you will ever go back to EastEnders full time?" a curious follower asked her.

She answered along with a picture of her character: "I loved being back, and was so happy with you in my DMs, maybe one day."

Jacqueline confirmed her comeback for the scenes earlier this year, alongside other characters who returned for the funeral - including Colin Russell, Barry Clark, George ‘Lofty’ Holloway, Mary ‘the punk’ Smith and Disa O’Brien.

Jacqueline spilled: "Coming back to EastEnders for Dot's funeral was a no-brainer, and it was a real honour to be invited back. I had a lot of fun but, of course, it was bittersweet. It was amazing to be back, but hard to be filming this storyline.

"I can tell the viewers now that Dot gets the beautiful send-off that she deserves. June was the light and joy of EastEnders. I had so much fun working with her, the incredible stories and how infectious & witty she was. June is a legend and I miss her very much."

She also previously explained that she was 'scared' about returning to the soap after four years.

The star left the show in 2018 (BBC)

The star joked that she couldn't 'remember' how to act and was 'really nervous' about her scenes.

"I felt I was rusty and I didn’t know if people would still see me as Lauren again,” she explained.

“But as soon as we were in amongst it and you’re talking about people you know, it’s Dot and you’re catching up with old friends – you get straight back into it.”

She was cast as Lauren in 2010 and her final scenes were aired in early 2018.

Since her departure, the star has appeared in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and even became Queen of the jungle.
