BECKET, MASSACHUSETTS — On 1 August 2025, Kathryn 'Kat' Sirico, a 40-year-old production manager at the world-renowned Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, tragically died in a workplace accident involving a runaway dolly and heavy staging platforms. The incident, which occurred on the festival's campus, has raised urgent questions about workplace safety protocols within the performing arts industry.

Sirico was assisting an intern with moving metal staging platforms on a dolly along a sloped area of the campus when the cart suddenly became unstable and rolled downhill. According to a report from the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, Sirico attempted to stop the dolly but lost her footing, causing her to fall. The heavy platforms subsequently crushed her, resulting in fatal injuries.
