Jacob Rees-Mogg filming new reality TV show after general election defeat

Jacob-Rees Mogg has reportedly been filming a five-part fly-on-the-wall documentary series following his life.

‘Meet the Moggs’ is set to land on Discovery + and will star himself, his wife Helena and their six children. Their nanny from their home in the West Country is expected to also appear on screen.

The series will be set in the family’s 17th century home which was in 2018 vandalised with words on the windows reading “posh scum”.

The TV documentary, dubbed “the British version of the Kardashians”, will reportedly follow the former MP losing his seat in the North East Somerset and Hanham constituency last week.

He was unseated by Labour’s West of England mayor Dan Norris, who won 20,739 votes compared to 15,420 for Sir Jacob. Turnout for the poll was 69.38 per cent.

The team working with Mr Mogg, and who had reportedly began filming him ahead of Rishi Sunak calling the General Election, are said to have been bowled over by his “charismatic”, “kind and warm” personality.

A source told the Sun: “Jacob and his family have been filming for the last couple of months but no one expected the General Election to be announced.

“It was gold for the show however and gave a real insight into what family is like for working MPs.

“His son Peter is really keen to make a name for himself in TV so he has been front and centre.

“Basically it’s being sold as the British version of the Kardashians and will be warts and all.”

Reports of the documentary series follow Rees-Mogg being closely followed on the campaign trail and canvassing with a camera crew close by.

He was also joined by the team while canvassing in Longwell Green on the edge of Bristol ahead the election.

Rees-Mogg has previously fallen under scrutiny for his other unusual canvassing practices, which once saw his nanny accompany him on the job.
