Jacksepticeye addresses the Bloodborne movie and his unexpected role: "I'm a producer, I'm not the writer or director"

YouTuber Seán "JackSepticEye" McLoughlin has published a video in which he addresses the newly announced Bloodborne animated movie, and in it he talks about his love for the game, his role on the movie adaptation, and his thoughts on taking on such an integral responsibility.

First, a quick ICYMI: Late last night at Sony's CinemaCon panel, the company revealed that an R-rated animated movie adaptation of FromSoftware's beloved action-RPG is in the works, and that it'll be "very true" to the game. All of this came as a surprise to attendees as well as off-the-clock entertainment reporters, but perhaps the biggest surprise was the reveal that JackSepticEye is involved as producer. Considering the YouTuber is a known FromSoftware and Bloodborne superfan who's been involved in the film industry for years, it's not as surprising as, say, if Justin Bieber was involved, but it definitely raised some eyebrows.

In a new video, JackSepticEye works to "express how much I care about this," seemingly in attempt to quell the concerns of his fellow Bloodborne sickos who might be uncomfortable with the idea of a YouTuber producing the movie.

"I live and breathe FromSoftware games," he stresses. "But Bloodborne specifically is my top-tier, highest echelon of game. I have a tattoo of the Hunter's Mark on my body. I have giant statues of the Hunter and Eileen behind me. I have a tiny lamp of the Messengers behind me because I absolutely adore this franchise. Bloodborne is like the thing I wake up and play video games for. It is the top of the top. It is the most exciting thing ever to be able to announce this."

If that's not enough for you, later on in the video he emphasizes that key creative roles like director and writer on the Bloodborne movie have yet to be revealed. The YouTuber definitely seems aware of the fact that there might be some reservations about him taking on such an iconic IP, but he seems equally dedicated to assuaging those doubts.

"I know a lot of you are gonna be surprised to hear that my name is attached to this thing. Again, I'm a producer. I'm not the writer or director of this. That stuff will come out later, about who's involved. But as the producer of it, whatever is within my power to be able to do, I will do it.

"I will fight tooth and nail to make this thing the best it possibly can be from my standpoint. I assure you. I promise you. I'm not going into this and taking it lightly. I know what an absolute gigantic honor it is. No one knows that better than I do."

It seems it's still early days for the Bloodborne movie, and there aren't any details about its cast, plot, or writing/directing teams. Likewise, there's no release date or window yet.

Bloodborne "is a special game for me" says Hidetaka Miyazaki, and it's "the strongest reflection of my type of flavoring of a game that one can experience"
