The Tasmania JackJumpers have consolidated fourth position and sent the Adelaide tumbling to eighth on the NBL ladder with an emphatic 98-82 demolition.

Sixth man Jack McVeigh burnt his old side at MyState Bank Arena on Thursday night with a career-best 28 points in 27 minutes for the hosts, including 6-of-7 three-pointers, with star import Milton Doyle also scoring 28 points.

Robert Franks (24 points at 71 per cent), damningly, was the only player to register double digits for the 36ers, whose poor performance came at a huge cost.

A win would have seen Adelaide leap to fourth spot. Instead they have crashed to eighth, with a tough assignment to come in Perth on Saturday.

Tasmania's 23-17 quarter-time lead was trimmed to a single point when Sunday Dech buried a triple midway the second term before the JackJumpers responded with three unanswered treys in less than a minute to suddenly lead by 10 points.

Franks fired three three-pointers in the third term but Tasmania met the challenge through Doyle, who bombed three of his own from downtown.

Franks buried his fourth trey early in the fourth stanza to single-handedly reduce the deficit to seven points, but once again the home side responded.

McVeigh remained unstoppable from outside, adding three three-pointers for the quarter before exiting the match with his arms aloft and exhorting the crowd in trademark style, allowing Doyle to finish off the outclassed visitors.
