Jack Wilshere has revealed some of the reason's why he believes his time at West Ham did not work out.
The former England international spent two seasons at the Hammers but failed to make a significant impact at the club due to injury and selection issues. Over his time at the London Stadium Wilshere made just 16 Premier League appearances and only nine starts across all competitions before his contract was mutually terminated.
The central midfielder then had three months without a club before returning to Bournemouth on a short-term deal. His departure from the Cherries led to another spell out of the game that ended on Sunday when it was announced he had signed for Danish outfit AGF.
Prior to joining AGF Wilshere has had spells training in Italy with Serie B side Como 1907 and three months back at his first senior club Arsenal.
Speaking at his first press conference in Denmark Wilshere reflected upon his time at the club he grew up following.
"I joined a great club in West Ham, I grew up supporting West Ham, so it was a dream of mine to play for them," he said.
"It started okay and then there were difficult times with injuries. Not falling out with the manager [Mauel Pellegrini] but the manager having a different way of thinking, that can happen in football.
"All I was trying to do was make sure I was ready to play but unfortunately it didn’t work out there."
While a move to Denmark is certainly a different direction for Wilshere, he said he has gone into it to challenge himself and is looking forward to the opportunity.
"I spoke with the head coach and really liked what they were saying," he added.
"I always said that in my career I wanted to try something different. I think now was the right time to step out of my comfort zone, step out of England and try something different."
