Curly locks, sideburns and big blouses have transformed a star-studded cast, including Jack Lowden, Emma Corrin and Olivia Colman, into the beloved characters from Pride And Prejudice.

Based on the Jane Austen novel, the six-part Netflix series follows the witty Elizabeth Bennet who, encouraged to find a rich husband by her mother, Mrs Bennet, meets the single, rich and proud Mr Darcy.

Released on December 3, the series was directed by Heartstopper’s Euros Lyn, and adapted by Everything I Know About Love author Dolly Alderton, who also co-produced the show.

Newly released images of the cast feature The Crown star Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet who appears pensive in a field wearing a red dress and floral spencer jacket.

Meanwhile her love interest, played by Slow Horses star Jack Lowden, appears as the sideburn-wearing Mr Darcy, who sports a white rolled-up shirt and wool waistcoat.

Colman becomes the matriarch, Mrs Bennet, with tight ringlets framing her face as she sits in a brightly coloured room while the deceptive officer and antagonist, Mr Wickham, played by Enola Holmes star Louis Partridge, smirks away in a red military jacket.

The series also stars Stath Lets Flats actor Jamie Demetriou as the pompous Mr Collins, who has slicked-back curly hair, a white neckscarf and black suit jacket.

Daryl McCormack plays Mr Bingley, Rufus Sewell is Mr Bennet, with Freya Mavor, Rhea Norwood, Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery as sisters Jane, Lydia, Mary and Kitty Bennet.

There have been many adaptations of Jane Austen’s classic over the years. The 2005 Joe Wright-directed film, starring Keira Knightley, marks its 20th anniversary this autumn.

In 2024 the shirt worn by Colin Firth when he strode across fields dripping wet after a swim in the lake during the TV series adaptation in 1995 sold for £20,000 at a charity auction.

Among other adaptations was comedy horror film Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s book of the same name and starring Lily James and Matt Smith.
