One of the perennial needs for the New England Patriots is a viable outside receiver that legitimately scares opposing defenses. Rookie cornerback Jack Jones offered up a solution after co-signing on the Patriots going out and getting five-time Pro Bowl wideout Keenan Allen.
Per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper, the Los Angeles Chargers could save $14.8 million by outright cutting Allen from the team. They already have Mike Williams under contract, and they could be looking to use the extra money to fill other positions on the roster.
Allen, 30, would be an instant upgrade at the receiver position for the Patriots. When a Twitter user brought up the subject of Allen going to New England, Jones retweeted the post and responded.

Jones is a California native, and Allen played football at the University of California in college. So there is a clear connection there.
DeVante Parker showed flashes of being a No. 1 threat for the Patriots in 2022, but it wasn’t often enough to create real change within an offense that struggled throughout the season. Coaching was obviously an issue as well, and there’s always a possibility his game takes a massive leap under newly-hired offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.
But Allen is clearly an impact player that can help the Patriots right away, and they wouldn’t have to give up any draft picks for him, if he gets cut. It might be a no-brainer deal the team can’t afford to pass up.
