Contract talks tying Jack Harrison’s future to Leeds United are expected in the coming weeks with the winger’s agent set to sit down with Victor Orta. The 26-year-old’s deal expires in 2024 and after notable interest was rebuffed last summer, it’s clear new terms are needed.
After an unusual three consecutive loan stints from Manchester City, Harrison finally secured the long-expected permanent move to Elland Road in 2021. After making his debut under Marcelo Bielsa in 2018, he has amassed 180 appearances, putting him fifth among the current squad on the all-time list.
Harrison may have only been a permanent fixture for 14 months, but he’s part of the Elland Road furniture now and that shows no signs of changing based on Jesse Marsch’s repeatedly effusive praise for him. The wide man’s stock never seemed higher than at the height of the summer transfer window when the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were circling.

The Magpies even put forward at least one bid for Harrison’s services, but any interest was rejected out of hand by Leeds. There was zero appetite to let an improving player, with his peak years ahead, move on in the last transfer window after the sales of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.
While that was a show of faith in Harrison, the predictable next step is putting your money where your mouth is. In a world where some clubs can offer Leeds players more money, Orta and the boardroom are under pressure to ensure their most valued assets feel that value.
As Harrison’s contract approaches its final 18 months, external interest is only going to increase through the January and summer transfer windows. A new deal ends that noise.
Speaking at the club’s Spanish training camp, Harrison said: “I enjoy being here at the club, I love being here, I've been here a long time now and I'm almost part of the furniture here now.
“It's a great place to be, I'm happy to be here and I think my agent is coming over in the next month to sort something out with Victor. So we'll see what happens.”
Time will tell if Leeds and the winger can find common ground across the negotiating table.
