Leeds United winger Jack Harrison has put speculation on his future to bed after interest from Newcastle United over the summer. Harrison was the subject of a bid from the Magpies over the summer and added fuel to the fire following an answer he gave during an interview in pre-season.
The 25-year-old was quizzed on whether he would be staying at Elland Road beyond this summer, to which he responded: ‘we’ll see’. With Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha already having been sold, his answer sparked frenzy on social media with supporters fearing another key departure.
But in a recent interview with Mail Online, Harrison admitted he didn’t mean to cause such confusion over his future with his answer, detailing how he is now looking towards a positive season with Leeds in the hope of earning an England call-up.

He said: “I knew nothing about it and it threw me off. My answer gave the wrong impression from what I meant. Social media was talking about it and people were like, ‘What have you said?’
“But it was nothing. My intention is to be here and work hard for this team. If anything I want to make a greater impact than before and I think this is the best place to do that.
“My performances at the start of last season weren’t the best but I think I improved. My goal is to try to make the next England camp in September. If I am to have any chance of the World Cup at all, I will have to make that next squad.
“It’s a big goal and my grandad would be proudest. He says he had trials at Chelsea but you never know with him! It’s a joke between us. I tell him there is no video footage...”
