Jack Grealish admitted that Arsenal were “a lot better” than Manchester City despite the Gunners falling to a damaging defeat at the Emirates.

Pep Guardiola’s side moved to the top of the Premier League table with victory in north London, even if Arsenal do still have a game in hand.

Kevin De Bruyne put the visitors in front with a brilliant finish, and while Bukayo Saka equalised from the penalty spot before half-time, Grealish and Erling Haaland struck in the second-half as City showed their class.

They were given a significant helping hand from Arsenal though, with errors from Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel playing crucial roles in the first and second goals. Gabriel was also fortunate to not give away a penalty, as VAR came to his rescue with a marginal offside decision.

Grealish acknowleged the pressure Arsenal put his side under, particularly in the first-half, but hailed the resilience City showed to pick up a crucial three points.

“If I’m being honest, I don’t think we actually played that well,” Grealish told Prime Video Sport.

“I think Arsenal played a lot better than us, I thought they were the better team. I think so.

“They had a few chances - I don’t know if it was a penalty, I haven’t really seen it back yet.

“If you win titles, you’ve got to come to grounds like this. Even when you’re not at your best, you’ve got to win games. That’s what me and Riyad [Mahrez] said to each other on the bench.”
