The bronze statue of Jack Charlton to be unveiled next month is a fitting tribute to the football legend, his family said on Monday.
The impressive £50,000 life-size figure - showing 6ft 2in tall Jack in his trademark flat cap, holding a football in his hand - will go on display in his hometown of Ashington, Northumberland.
The family of the 1966 World Cup winner, who managed the Republic of Ireland team for a decade, are impressed by the work of award-winning sculptor Douglas Jennings. A spokesman for the Charlton family said he should be ‘very proud’ of his work.
