Jack Catterall has spoken out after a controversial result in his world title defeat against Josh Taylor in Glasgow on Saturday night.
The Chorley born fighter was beaten by a split decision with with Catterall having put in a brilliant performance.
Taylor is pound-for-pound one of the best fighters in the world, but Catterall was able to land more blows in all but one round of their fight at the OVO Arena in Glasgow.
The mandatory challenger posted an emotional message to Instagram, explaining that he fought for his family and home town, before saying 'shame on you' to the judges.
The full statement read: "You know what hurts the most, it wasn’t for me I done all of this for my family my team my town and country. My baby girl and misses, our future.
"Today I should of been waking up with all of the belts. 15 months out the ring, they all wrote me off. Fucked me in every way possible for over two years, finally got the fight.
"Sacrificed everything to fight one of the top p4p ranked fighters, gave him a lesson. For what. Boxing shame on you. Judges Dreams stolen."
Taylor is now likely to face a super-fight against Terence Crawford while Catterall will be left trying to reignite his career after a disappointing end to what could have been a highlight.
Catterall's trainer Jamie Moore was clearly upset with the decision, with one judge's card reading 114-111 in favour of Catterall, and said to Sky Sports that the decision made him want to 'walk away' from the sport.
Despite this, Taylor insists that he felt he won the fight as he looks forward to stepping up a weight class for a fight against Crawford, who has beaten Kell Brook and Amir Khan in recent years.
"I just felt a little tight in the first half of the fight," he said. "A little bit too tense, trying a little bit too hard. Being the favourite, I had to put a lot of pressure on myself to put in a good performance.
"He did everything I knew he was going to do, it just wasn't the best performance from me.
"I took over in the second half of the fight and I won. I didn't think I needed to get the stoppage. He stole a couple of the middle rounds but overall I won the 12 rounds fine.
"I left it a little bit too late to get the weight down but it's no excuse. The weight wasn't an issue from the performance."
