Jack Butland reckons the atmosphere inside Ibrox for Rangers vs PSV Eindhoven was one of the best that he has experienced.
Gers attacker Abdallah Sima curled in a terrific first-leg opener just before the interval but the Dutch side levelled through midfielder Ibrahim Sangare just after the hour mark.
As play raced from end to end, substitute Rabbi Matondo scored his first Light Blues goal in the 76th minute before PSV captain Luuk de Jong levelled with a header four minutes later, and the match ended in a repeat of last year’s score at the same stage of the competition.
It was a pulsating fixture and the noise inside Ibrox added to the occasion, and for Butland he is hoping to experience more Champions League occasions in Glasgow.
He said: "That was pretty special. It was some atmosphere.
"Yeah, perhaps a little disappointed with the result in the end, but a really good performance.
"I think we were good value for it and it gives us something to go to Eindhoven with next week and get the job done.
"It was an incredible atmosphere. I wish we had held on for the win.
"It was one of the best atmospheres I have ever played in so I am hoping for plenty more of them.
"You can be frustrated if you like, but realistically we have played against a really good side and put ourselves in a good position for next week.
"It is a two-legged tie. You can look at it in many different ways.
"Rabbi, what an impact he made. Sima, what a finish.
"A lot of positives to come from it, maybe we could have scored more goals, could we have been a bit tidier and better? Yeah, but that is where we will get better as a team.
"Positive night, really enjoyed it and really looking forward to next week."
