Jack Black Hints At Potential School Of Rock Sequel Return

Jack Black

Jack Black, the versatile actor and musician, has hinted at the possibility of a sequel to the beloved 2003 comedy film, School of Rock. During the 20th-anniversary celebration of the movie last year, Black expressed interest in reprising his role as Dewey Finn, the rock band member turned substitute teacher.

Black, who has been enjoying a string of successes in recent years, including voicing Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and starring in the upcoming Borderlands movie, is eager to revisit one of his most iconic roles. He is currently basking in the box office success of Kung Fu Panda 4, where he lends his voice to the character Po.

While speaking about the potential sequel, Black mentioned the importance of having Mike White, the writer of the original film, on board for the project. White, who is currently occupied with the hit TV show White Lotus, would be a key collaborator in bringing School of Rock 2 to life.

School of Rock, which follows Dewey as he discovers the musical talents of his students and enters a band contest, has maintained a strong following since its release. Despite not being one of Black's biggest blockbusters, the film's enduring popularity has kept fans hopeful for a sequel.

Although there is no official confirmation of a sequel in development, Black's enthusiasm and willingness to work with White again suggest that School of Rock 2 could become a reality in the future. Fans can catch the original School of Rock streaming on Netflix and Paramount+ as they eagerly await any updates on a potential sequel.
