The J&K’s State Investigation Agency (SIA), constituted in November last year, on Sunday carried out its first multiple raids outside the Union Territory (UT) in a terror–funding case and identified six people and their locations who have been “in constant touch with a Pakistan–based mastermind”.
“Technical evidence and banking transactions have established the identities of three people with locations in Delhi, one person with location in Faridabad and two persons in Anantnag, UT of J&K. The technical evidence confirms that they are in constant touch with the Pakistan–based mastermind,” the SIA said.
On the basis of investigation and corroborated by technical evidence, it was revealed that a terrorist mastermind, whose name is being withheld for operational reasons and confidentiality of information giving person, of the Lashkar–e–Taiba (LeT), based in Pakistan, has been facilitating and providing financial assistance to its cadres and associates to promote and further terrorist activities in the Union Territory and other parts of country, the SIA said.
The SIA said the J&K police conducted searches at multiple locations in the case of fund raising and financial assistance by the terrorist mastermind of the LeT to its cadres and associates across India to further terrorist activities in the Union Territory.
“During searches conducted today, incriminating materials such as digital devices, SIM cards, mobile phones and documents, having bearing on the investigation have been recovered and seized,” the SIA said.
The searches were conducted at various locations across Delhi, Haryana and J&K in connection with terror funding case FIR No.15/21 U/S 13, 21, 40 UA (P) Act, 120-B IPC police station CIK, Srinagar.
“The investigation of the case is in progress,” the SIA said.
The SIA is a nodal agency for coordinating with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other Central agencies “to take measures as may be necessary for speedy and effective investigation and prosecution of militancy related cases”.
