Kulgam: The Indian Army has concluded "Operation Redwani Payeen," eliminating three terrorists after a vigil of 40 hours, officials said on Thursday.

In a post on X from the Indian Army's Chinar Corps official handle, it was said, "A joint operation that commenced on the intervening night of May 6-7 in the general area of Redwani Payeen, Kulgam, has been concluded after a relentless vigil of approximately 40 hours. 4 terrorists have been eliminated along with the recovery of war-like stores, inflicting yet another hit on the terror ecosystem."

"The Chinar Corps remains committed to maintaining peace and tranquility in Kashmir," it added.

Meanwhile, security forces neutralised the third terrorist in the Redwani Payeen area of south Kashmir's Kulgam on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, two terrorists were killed in an encounter in the area.

Earlier on Tuesday, a fierce exchange of fire broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Redwani Payeen area of south Kashmir's Kulgam.

Following this, the operation was jointly launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police.

Earlier, an Indian Air Force officer was killed and four others injured after suspected terrorists from across the border targeted a convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on May 4.

The area where the attack took place lies between Surankote's Sanai Top and Mendhar's Gursai area in the border district. Indian Air Force Corporal Vikky Pahade lost his life in the terror attack in Poonch.

The mortal remains of the fallen soldier were brought to Nagpur by a special aircraft from Udhampur, from where they were brought to Chhindwara by a special army helicopter, where the Chief Minister of the state, Mohan Yadav, paid tribute to him. A large number of people had gathered in honour of Pahade. (ANI)
