Srinagar: Three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s shadow group are believed to be trapped in an encounter that is underway in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said one of the trapped militants is Lateef Rathar who is accused of several civilian killings including that of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat and woman artist Amreen Bhat.

The encounter broke out early Wednesday at Waterhail area of Budgam during a cordon and a search operation which was launched by a joint team of forces following an input about militant presence.
